Weekly Blogs for Technology for Teaching and Learning 1

12th Blog
-November 14, 2019

So today we didn't have any class but we were allowed to create our instructional video. Instructional video is our project for this course subject which is the "Technology for Teaching and Learning 1". The topic that I've choose to represent is the simple and the compound interest. I've choose this topic because I think that this topic is usable and can be applied in our daily lives.

After the dismissal of the class, we played a game named "Avalon" it is a board/card game that is playable by 5-10 players. In this game, you should know how to provoke and test your opponents in order to win. It is an interesting game that will surely enjoyed by everyone.

That's all for today's blog.

2nd Unit Test

Last time, I talk about the qr code, its history and purpose, the importance of the self-reflection and about the portfolio.

So for today's blog, I will be discussing what we did in our 12th meeting. So, in today's meeting we had an exam or our unit test 2. Where we did an outline, based on the article that we read. The article was entitled "21st Century Engineer". That was the title that I remember. That article focuses on the current engineers, those engineers are having a hard time in speaking English. They are having a hard time with their Oral Communication Skills. The article also discussed the dominance of the ratio of male engineers in Australia. Male engineers are more than compared to the female engineers in the Australia. That's all that I've remember in that article.

Image result for outline

Making an outline, allows us to organize or list all the main topics, sub topics and the details within that topics. That's all for today's blog.

The Tenth Meeting
-October 24, 2019

Last meeting our student professor talks about the QR code, the importance of Reflection and the Portfolios.

What is QR Code?

QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) first designed in 1994 for the automotive industry in Japan.

In practice, QR codes often contain data for a locator, identifier, or tracker that points to a website or application.

History :

The QR code system was invented in 1994 by the Japanese company Denso wave. Its purpose was to track vehicles during manufacturing; it was designed to allow high-speed component scanning.

The Importance of the Self-Reflection

The importance of the Self-Reflection is that Self-Reflection helps to build emotional self-awareness. By taking the time to ask yourself the important questions, you gain a better understanding of your emotions, strengths, weaknesses and driving factors. Once you understand important aspects of the self, you become better able to adapt to changing situations and tough circumstances.

The importance of the Portfolios

The importance of the Portfolios is that exhibits the student's effort, progress, achievements, and competencies that the students gained during the course.

Examples of Porfolio
•Scrapbook
•ClearBook
•Electronic Portfolio
•Online Portfolio

That's all the things that has been discussed for today's meeting and I've realized that reflection is really important thing to do in our everyday lives.

Instructional materials
October 10, 2019
#8th Blog

Last week, I talked about what happened in our first ever unit test and the tips on how to make your PowerPoint effective. So, for today's blog, I'm going to talk about the things that happened in today's meeting.

October 10, 2019 (Thursday) is the final demo of our student teacher and he nailed it, but before his demo presentation, he talks about the "instructional materials". Basically, instructional materials are materials that is used in teaching. There are a lot of instructional materials that is being in today's modern education.

Instructional materials is used to have a meaningful and effective learning, help to overcome the limited classroom, provide a common experience which late learning can be develop and encourage participation of the students.

Some of the examples of the instructional materials are the following :
1. Diorama - refers to a model and it can be used to show a model of something.
2. Writing Board - refers to the blackboard, whiteboard and glass boards.
3. Flip chart - can be used in art classes.
4. Zigzag board - this is used in museums and exhibits to showcase visual information about something or someone.
5. Wall display - refers to the colorful printed materials that can be found in the walls of the classroom of kinder to high school.

Unit Test
-October 3, 2019

Last week, I talked about the things that our professor taught us and the things I've learned from what she said. For today's blog, I'm going to talk about the things that I've learned for this meeting.

During the Unit Test

For today's meeting, we had our very first unit test and I found that test very realistic and at the same time, it's a challenging test. It is because, the questions in that test are based to the real life situations as a teacher. By the way, our unit test is essay type and all the questions are all about "what are you going to do as a professional teacher". In one of the questions in the test, this question made me really wonder, "what are the things that you can make to help the future generations of learners". My insight in that question is, I'am going to create a robot. Since we are in computer hardware course, the robot that I'm going to make is a kind of robot that possess an artificial intelligence and within that artificial intelligence, I will install all the teaching methodologies that I've learn throughout my college years. That's what I answered in that question. All the questions in that test are just like that. Although, at the last part of the test, I didn't managed to answer the last two questions because I don't know what to answer and I'm not fully prepared for that test.

After the test

Our student teacher, also talk about what is the proper format in making presentations or the 8 tips of an effective PowerPoint presentation. Basically, to have a beautiful presentation, you have to use big font size, more images, the color is good to the eyes of the listener and should be colorful.

What I've learned for today's meeting

• Be always prepared and always review all of your notes.
• 8 tips for an effective PowerPoint presentation.

  • Be creative
  • Use Colors
  • Use Good fonts
  • DON'T PUT TOO MUCH TEXT
  • Use Images
  • Make it big as possible
  • Infographics
  • Get inspired

 Rules

Last week I talked about the film entitled "Searching" and the things I've learn from watching that film. For today's blog, I'm going to talk about the things that I've learned for this meeting.

The discussion period

Some of my classmates, presented their topics about the article that they've done base on their assigned issues

                     After the Discussion

Our professor reminded us to focus on the things that we're doing, in order to avoid mistakes like wrong spelling and erasures. She also said that we should avoid using "contraction", improve our grammar and avoid combining the plural and singular.

What I've learned for today's meeting

• Focus on your work - in order to avoid mistakes like wrong spelling, wrong grammar, erasures and etc. It will also help you to avoid the excessive use of bond paper.

• Avoid using "contraction" words.

• Follow the rules of plural and singular nouns.

• Make your written report as simple as you can or make it look like it was made by a professional.

That's all the things I've learned in today's meeting and the things we've done.

Searching

Last week, I talked about the ICT Policy and issues on internet and implications to teaching and learning and also the safety issues on the use of ICT. For today's blog I'm going to discuss about the movie entitled "Searching" and the things that I've learned from that movie.

Searching is a 2018 American thriller film directed by Aneesh Chaganty in his feature debut and written by Chaganty and Sev Ohanian. It is a film that revolves about the disappearance of Margot Kim (David Kim's daughter) who is a teenager who lost her mother when she was still a child. The Searching contains lots of turns of events, that will make you confused at the same time and it makes the movie interesting and exciting to watch. While watching the film, you will see the usage and effectiveness of the technology throughout the movie.

What I've Learned From watching the movie entitled "Searching"

The first thing that I've learned is that "do not post too much information in the social media or in the web" it is for our own safety and to avoid other people to steal your own personal information.

Secondly, "do not trust too much in people that we meet or encounter in the web", just like what happened to Margot she was stalked and was followed and was pushed off the cliff and that was almost killed her. Again, this is for our own safety, it is for us to avoid stalkers, scammers and etc.

The third, I've realized that the technology is really important for us, technology is something that will help us in times we badly needed help on searching or finding someone and the technology will make it easier to look for someone or something.

Lastly, I've realized that the film entitled "searching", showcases or highlights how vulnerable our privacy and security in the modern world nowadays. That's all the things I've learned in today's meeting and the things we've done. If I were to give a rating on the film entitled "Searching" on the scale of 1-10, I can rate the film 7 over 10. As the film makes me wanted to solve the disappearance of Margot Kim.

ICT policies and Issues

Last week, I talk about the evolution of the classroom, the netiquette and the cyberbullying. I also talked about the presentation that we've done about the Netiquette and Cyberbullying. For today's blog, I'm going to talk about the ICT Policy and issues on internet and implications to teaching and learning and also the safety issues on the use of ICT.

During the discussion

Our student teacher, showed a presentation about the ICT policies and Issues plus the safety issues on the use of ICT. Our student teacher also talks about the freedom of thought, speech, action and religion.

After the discussion

One of the 6 groups, presented their topic about the ICT policy base on the copyright, fair use and plagiarism.

What I've learned for today's meeting

The first thing that I've learned is that, there is a lot of policies that exists in regards to the ICT. Policies that talks about how they should handle a problem that may result into an issue. I've also learned that there are lots of recommended polices in regards to the ICT. As for example, ICT educational in master plan, ICT skills strategic plan, PHeDnet and eQuality programs.

The second thing that I've learned, is the e-pollutants and e-waste. E-pollutants or E-Pollution refers to the pollution cause by the disregarded electrical or electronic devices. E-waste refers to the discarded electrical or electronic devices/products after the end of it's useful life.

The third thing that I've learned, is the freedom of thought, freedom of speech, freedom of action and freedom of religion. In this part of lesson, I've realized that all of these freedom started from our thought. Our thoughts are limitless that's why we have this kind of freedom. It started or born from our thoughts, then it will be going as our speech which is freedom of speech, will go to be come freedom of action and lastly, it will become the freedom of religion which refers to our beliefs. That's all what I've learned and the things we've done during this meeting.

Netiquette and Cyberbullying

Have you ever encountered the term netiquette while surfing in the web?
Have you experienced being bullied in the internet?
And do you even wondered there's rules and regulations everywhere in this world?

Last week, I talked about the Ched Memorandum Order no. 79 series of 2017 and the things that we've done during and after the class discussion. For today's blog, I'm going to talk about the Netiquette and Cyberbullying and the things we've done during the 3rd meeting in the Technology for Teaching and Learning 1.

During the discussion

For today's meeting our student teacher showed us two videos about the technology in regards to teaching. The first one, a video about the evolution of the classroom teacher and the second one, is a video about the advantages and disadvantages of the technology for teaching.

Things we've done after the discussion

After the video presentation, we had a recitation about what we think about the technology for teaching 10 years from now for the first video and what are insights for the second video.

After the recitation, we group ourselves by counting 1-6. My number was 2, so I belong to the group 2.  We are tasked to do a safety and ict policies about the netiquette and cyberbullying based on the local and international schools/university.

For the Netiquette, the school that we chose is the University of Texas at El Paco (international) and the Adamson University (local). For the anti-cyberbullying policy we had the University of Baguio as the example.

During our group presentation for the netiquette and cyberbullying policies:

By the way, Netiquette refers to the do's and don't in the internet or in the social media. For example "respect people's privacy" that is one of the very known or basic netiquette in the social media that must abide or follow by the users.

For the cyberbullying, it refers to the bullying that occurs in the internet or in the social media. Like, posting a photo that is not yours and commenting by using offensive words against someone's photo or post is a common occurrences in the social media and was considered an example of cyberbullying.

If cyberbullying happens to a person, it can cause a serious anxiety, chronic depression, panic and fear. It may affect the person's capability to socialize with other people and also can affect the person's grades or performance in school. Cyberbullying is a scary thing to happen to any people. That's why the netiquette was created in the social media.

What I've learned for today's meeting

The first one, is I've learned that the evolution of the classroom teacher started from the scratch. The education basically started from the cave drawings and develop all the way in the future. The cave drawings, originated in the European countries based on what our student teacher said.

The second one, I've realized that if technologies for teaching are improving in the future, teachers/professors should also be able to improve in a way that they can maximize the usage of the technology that they were going to use, in order to make their students learn better.

The third one, I've realized that Netiquette is really important in today's social media. Netiquette acts like as the law or policy in the world of the social media that should be abide in order to avoid any occurrence that may result into cyberbullying.

As we end the day, another learnings are acquired and another motivation again for me to become a future educator.

The Guideline

"A week has passed and it's a new week again, meaning new things will happen and new learnings can be acquired. "

Last week, I talked about the things that I've learned and things that happened during the first meeting for the TTL 1 (technology for teaching and learning 1) and for today's blog, I'm going to talk about the things that I've learned about the CMO or the Ched Memorandum Order for BTVTED (Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education) and also the things that we've done during the second meeting.

Ched Memorandum Order no.79 series of 2017

So, what is CMO no. 79 series of 2017? Basically, CMO or Ched Memorandum Order no. 79 series of 2017 is a guideline for the program called the BTVTED (Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education). During the discussion our student teacher talks about the importance of the CMO for BTVTED (Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education). The CMO contains things like course syllabus, curriculum components, the main reason or concern why the BTVTED  program is created, program goals and outcomes for the students that is currently taking up this program like myself and many more. Also, our student teacher said that the CMO is the one that talks about the things that as a teacher must be done and the things that must be avoided at all costs. Moreover, the CMO already projected the outcomes that might happen to the students that is currently taking up this course.

The things we've done after the discussion for the CMO:

  • We had our first quiz and it was all about the CMO (Ched Memorandum Order no.79 series of 2017)

  • The sharing of the safety policies and the rules and regulations for local and international universities. The university that we choose for this activity is the University of the Philippines Diliman (local) and the University of Oxford (international).

  • And lastly, we make a ICT safety policy based in the BASD building.

The thing's I've learned for today's meeting

For today's meeting I've learned the importance of the CMO to our program that we are currently taking which is the BTVTED (Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education). The CMO no. 79 series of 2017 is really a guideline for the BTVTED program itself and to the students that is currently taking this program. It already included the things like , the subject courses and the outcomes that we may acquired during the 4 years of studying this program.

As we end the day, another experience, learnings and reasons are gained that motivates me to become a professional teacher someday in the future.

WHAT I LEARNED FROM THE FIRST MEETING

- August 22, 2019 (Thursday)

Have you ever wondered the difference between objectives and outcome? Program and a course?
And finally, between effective teacher and efficient teacher? In your whole life, have you ever encountered a kind of communication wherein you easily and completely understood what you're talking about with other people?

For the first meeting of my class in the TTL 1 (Technology for Teaching and Learning 1) my professor ask us three different questions that is related to the course syllabus.

The first one was "What's the difference between objectives and outcome?".

The second question is "What's the difference between the program and course?" .

and lastly, "What's the difference between effective teacher and efficient teacher?"

After asking those three questions, our professor taught us the proper kind of communication wherein you can easily understood what your talking to with other people. As for example, you're talking to a professor and the topic is "education", in order to easily understand this kind of communication, you just need to talk about things that is related to education. That's how proper communication works, it's between yourself and the one your talking with. Then, our professor briefly discussed the CMO (Ched Memorandum Order) about the btvted and our professor told to look and read in the Google the whole file of the said CMO.

THE THINGS THAT I'AM DOING DURING THE DISCUSSION

As for myself, during the time our professor ask us those three questions. In my mind, I was able to construct three different answers from the question given. First, my initial answer for the first question was "the difference between the objectives and outcome is that the objectives is similar to a goal that must be done no matter what, while the outcome is the result which came from the objectives you've accomplished. It's either good or a bad outcome". Secondly, my initial answer to the second question was "the difference between the program and a course is that the program is similar to an event, meaning there is an activities that should be done and the course is a subject." And Finally for the third question, my initial answer was, "The difference between effective teacher and efficient teacher was the effective teacher only leaves an impression to the students but an efficient teacher was able to leave not only impression but also able to make the students learn from his/her lessons and able to ace and pass all the exams". That's what I thought, although I didn't participate in the recitation. As for the CMO or Ched Memorandum Order, I was still reading it due to its many pages.

THE THINGS THAT I'VE LEARNED

Lastly, this will tackle what I've learned in the first meeting of my class in TTL 1 (Technology for Teaching and Learning 1). The first one is that I fully understand the difference between program and course. The program refers to the course like BTVTED, BET, BSIT and etc. While the course refers to the subject, just like what I thought. The other one is about the effective communication, which I think, I've understand how the effective communication works due to the explanation and examples of our professor and I think learning on how to make an effective communication will make you great interacting with other people and will also help you to become a full fledged person or individual. That's all I've learned for today's class and I'm sure it will help me to become a better student and as an individual.
